the Underwater ROV team is competing in the Marinetech ROV competition, Click Here to see more details


Project Summary
The team's objective is to create an Underwater Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV). The future goal for the vehicle is to be able to collect data for research purposes. There are two sub-teams: The Ground Control Team, and The ROV Maintenence team. The Ground Control team is in charge of communication between the ROV and the conroller. The ROV Maintenence Team works on the construction of the ROV as well as testing performance.

March 16, 2008 ~ Sunday

February 10, 2008 ~ Sunday

The team attached an extendable arm the chassis and tested it out in the pool. Trevor and Jonathan repaired the transportation apparatus, and created a small object to test the dexterity of "The Claw!"


December 22, 2007 ~ Saturday

The team tested the ROV in seawater and it worked without any malfunctions.


December 16, 2007 ~ Sunday

The maintanence team attached the camera back to the ROV. The ground control team tested the field of vision of the camera.


November 11, 2007 ~ Sunday

The whole team painted the ROV red.


Octoboer 28, 2007 ~ Sunday

The maintanance team adjusted the neutral boyancy with chain bouys and weights, preventing the ROV from unwanted ascension or descension.


Octoboer 21, 2007 ~ Sunday

The Ground Control Team finished the controller for the Underwater ROV. The Maintenance Team plans to add more pumps to allow more ranges of motion.


Octoboer 14, 2007 ~ Sunday

The Ground Control Team started constructing the controller for the Underwater ROV.


October 7, 2007 ~ Saturday

Currently the team has tested the vehicle in the PVHS pool and they identified the need to modify the vehicle. They also completed the frame with a camera mount!


September 29, 2007 ~ Saturday

The Underwater ROV team starting building their first submersible last week using PVC tubing. This Sunday they will be doing initial buoyancy tests in the PVHS pool!
